Autumn equinox was on September 23rd. That day, right on schedule, the skies clouded over and the greyness and raininess of the new season moved in.

400 watts of solar on the roof

We’ve had a great summer and I hurried to get my big motorhome project – the solar system – completed. I didn’t want to be drilling holes and mounting panels on the roof when it was raining. It’s done now and we hope to put it to the test this winter, withdrawing from time to time from the structure of campgrounds to do a little more wilderness boondocking.

Camping in my neice’s backyard

The weather was terrific the last several months. We stayed close to home in Surrey, except for one trip to northern BC to visit family and friends in Houston and Terrace. A great trip. We had Margaret’s sister, visiting from Denmark, and our daughter Nicole along for the trip. Such beautiful country. Too bad the winters are so brutal.

Dinner at Lac La Hache BC

The whole family was together for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Our little countertop oven did an amazing job on the turkey. Of course, mulgikapsad was on the menu. My little jar of homemade sauerkraut wasn’t ready in time but we will get to enjoy that in a few more weeks.

This winter’s trip is still up in the air. Still lots to do here. Busy events with family and acquaintances continue. I still have some final fix-its on the motorhome to do. Nevertheless, we hope hope to be away soon, headed south, again barely escaping the clutches of the approaching winter.
