This is our… hmm-m… sixth visit to Puerto Peñasco. I think. We are glad to be here, but we’re not excited to be here.

Maybe it was the delay in getting here, or that, because of the inopportune border closure, fewer people were here this season. The grey days seemed greyer and the sunny days didn’t appear to be nearly as bright. Social events seemed subdued and even (am I feeling this right) cliquish. It just didn’t seem right to get spontaneously wild and crazy anymore, even at Bingo.

Fresh shrimp tostada. Where’s my Pacifico?

We got reacquainted with people we’d met here in previous years. So nice to see them again. We went out to dinner with friends. We stood in line to get steaming hot tortillas and delighted in the local seafood, especially the shrimp from Jessy’s Fish Market. We strolled along the oceanfront walkway and breathed the sea air coming off the Golfo de California.

What were we missing? Maybe it’s time to journey a little deeper into México again.
